I love clocks. I love that they are useful and they offer a format for design and around that (ha - literally) they can look so different. This was is mounted on a stove in Fechin's home in Taos, New Mexico. Neat numbers.

RARE Vintage mechanical clock Agat from Russia Soviet Union era
One day, I will have to buy one of these Russian clocks. No idea which one - they are all interesting.
This wood one has a weird stand.
At that -- a happy New Year to you. We are going to stay home, drink champagne and cook a meal. Staying up to ring in the new year is optional.

We made it! I made it! You made it! We all made it through Christmas! Whatever sorta-passable gift you bought for that person, doesn't matter anymore. Whatever thing you should have bought and didn't for such-n-such, doesn't matter either! And that thing you were going to mail? No. One. Cares.
Ahhh. And sigh. Not to make it all seem bad. Of course, that means the wonderful parts are over too. I'll miss the eating and all of our twinkly decorations. Such is the end of December. And I have to add that while I didn't much buy any real nice gifts... I received some great ones! More on that later.

Right now, it's great to be home from our trip to Santa Fe. Lovely place and all but the air did not agree with me. Dry. Allergies. My nedi pot and I got reacquainted real quick. Picked up right where we left off. That thing is a life saver. And the altitude fatigue. I quickly forget things like that but when your goal is to make it to 10:00pm and you're not waking up until 8am --- that's medical.

This trip didn't see any snow, other than what was already on the ground, which allowed us to check out Taos and drive around at will. Mostly, I read by the fire, ate pepperoni and slept in a marshmallow, lumpy bed (wonderful for first 10 snuggly minutes and not as great the next 10 toss-and-turn hours [thank you Benadryl]).
Hope your Christmas was peaceful and you weren't stranded in any airports.

Tonight, we pack. Tomorrow, we fly and drive. Soon, we celebrate Christmas!
I was behind this year on gifts and all things Christmas. It's been a rush to the finish line. At this point, if it got done, it got done. If it didn't, then my apologies to whomever I owe them to.
The good news is that I've been through enough Christamas's not to stress about it -- just to remain busy.
Above is a nightlight with a flickery bulb that we bought last year and a shot of our new kitchen tile on the backsplash.
Tomorrow, we fly to Lubbock, Texas and drive from there to Santa Fe for a long Christmas weekend. I think this will be the closest I've come to Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Been a long time since I have been on a road trip and I look forward to long stares out the window and ample car snacks to complete the picture.
Merry Christmas. Safe travels and happy eating to you.

I found the headboard of my dreams at west elm. It's simple and yet with a bit of detail. Very nice.

All 3 Christmas trees are up: small "first tree", silver "apartment tree" and medium generic tree. The candlescapes are out and burning brightly! Lights are twinkling. The lists are being checked and noted! The Lou Rawls is bellowing. Gifts are arriving.
Though I had my doubts.....
turns out, Christmas is happening once again.
