Someone hasn't been blogging lately...
1. This is my new favorite - St. Germain, its Elderflower liqueur and it is divine. I like alcohol on the sweet side so please believe me when I tell you how wonderful this liqueur is. The liquor store had samples or we never would have discvoered it. The bottle is as beautiful as its contents.
2. Watched DOLLS (1987) at movie night --- good stuff.
"A group of people stop by a mansion during a storm and discover two magical toy makers, and their haunted collection of dolls."

I made my own chicken stock. I roasted 2 poblano peppers. I baked 4 pieces of chicken. I put it all together in a pot with some seasonings. I served it up in some bowls, topped with cheddar cheese and some tortilla chips and called it My Very Own Homemade Tortilla Soup. I ate it, and it was tasty.
I believe I am sold on making my own stock. I love the simple clean favor of a soup with only a few ingredients and the stock is certainly a huge part of that. The real test will be if I follow through and keep making it. The only thing I would change next time is to come up with a better freezing situation. Last time I used big sandwich bags but one sprang a hole rather easily, which I guess is why they make something callled freezer bags! go figure.
That is all for now. Soup will be on this fall.

About Yogurt in Austin:
If you live in Austin, there is a yogurt shop on Parmer Lane that you need to visit, called Tomunchi (Yelp). It's a self serve place with lots of flavors and then you get to have your way with the toppings bar which includes your typical crushed predictables and some wonderful fresh fruit. What's great about this place, in my opinion, is the Tart flavor which is what it souds like - real tart yogurt taste the way nature intended. I am in love with it - there's so many desserts that do nothing but give me a headache and with Tomunchi, I can have my yogurt with chocolate chips and fresh strawberries and be happy. Go try it!
About Oysters in Vancouver:
A friend of mine, emailed me about our trip to Vancouver to say, "Hey, did you pull moysters out of the ground and eat them or what?"
And to answer that, I would say no. The story is, we go to our woodsy cabin on Sunday night and when we knocked on the Kayak place's door monday morning, there was no one there. It didn't occur to us that in mid-september, the summer busy season is over and we should have made a reservation. It was also super sunny, bordering on warm, the days that we were up in the woods and a combination of all of those things meant the we dropped the kayak plan. Next time.
A lot happened in September.
