Not
many married women are lucky enough to have their own bedroom and
I DO consider it to be a luxury... a luxury that I plan to enjoy
as I put together my new room. It's a bit of a challenge in my head
to gather different elements and put them into a room. There's all
those restrictions you have to deal with like: How much does it
cost? Can I afford that? What colors does it come in? Of those colors,
which do I like? Of THOSE colors, which matches my scheme? Is it
too big, not big enough, just right? Will it go with the other thing
that I don't have yet?
And its not even like I can spend 2 hours online and order it all
in one sweep cause that wouldn't be fun at all and wouldn't allow
for that whatever unexpected item I might find at the thrift store.
But how patient am I to find all the items to make it all happen?
.... These are all the questions that are in my head.
My husband sent me some links - telling me that i needed a plan,
a vision. And I found that picture in the top left and that picture
looks EXACTLY like a bed that I would want to crawl into every night.
It's simple, but not boring. Its coordinated but not matchy. It's
warm, fun-ish -- it's fantastic.
The item in the bottom right will hang over the center of my bed,
but I'm going to paint mine a color [to be determined] once the
rest of it comes together. (---oh crap! I'm already not following
the picture.) Essentially, I need lamps, bedside tables and a couple
pillows.
I hoping this collage will help me remember some of what I have
and some of what I'm after. Plus, I continue to be inspired by all
of the great design blogs.
There's design
sponge's table, bed, etc guides at Home&Garden and plan
ol design sponge
itself. And Turquoise.
And Decor8. And bunches
more that I wander in and out of as often as possible.

Adam had had this dish on a previous trip to SD and insisted that
we order it even though we had merely stopped in for a drink and
weren't hungry. The pita bread is warm and cut into quarters with
a very soft cheese (probably greek yogurt) in the middle and topped
with some kind of indian spices with generous drizzling of olive
oil. It was incredibly different and delicious -- never had anything
like it. The taste wasnn't curry-ish ..... if anything the flavors
reminded me of pizza in a way and overall wasn't as strong as it
looks to be. We tried to ask our waitress for more details and she
said, "Yeah, its indian spices." -- Thanks, dollface!
I hope that we can recreate this at home.

THIS, people, is a perfect peice of pizza. Crispy,
not too much cheese, fresh tomato, basil, a tad of garlic and eaten
outdoors.
We are back from a long weekend in San Diego where we attended a
good friend's wedding and spent a few extra days enjoying some of
our usual haunts. And, gah, I wish I could mention our trip without
talking about how it was 85/90 degrees most of the time, but I can't.
GAH DANG IT WAS HOT!
This trip was different from some others in that I took it upon
myself to do the majority of picture taking and I had a lot of fun
with it. We did ALL of our meal pictures, as we love to do, and
I took some photos that I will print out and use to make a small
reference book for painting. San Diego has some perfect plant and
tree specimens... I am amazed every time I go out there how everything
looks like it was grown in a greenhouse -- such a place can only
exist when there's no hurricanes, freezing temps, etc. This fine
tree trunk was in front of our hotel room.
One afternoon, after several days of eating out, I suggested we
stop at the store and buy a few goodies to take back to our room
for a late lunch. We happened to be in Del Mar at the time, so,
not the best place for groceries (hello $5.00 box of assorted crackers),
but we managed. Turned out to be pretty fun. Below, you can see
our sliced roast beef, proscuitto underneath, some mushroom brei,
sliced granny smith apple, cashews in a cup, 2 cans of HERDEZ salsa
(plain for me, spicy for Adam). You can't see my $2.39 avocado,
still sitting on the counter, waiting for me to remember that I
forgot it. That avocado will go down in history as one of the best
avocados I've ever eaten. (I am married to the Avocado Whisperer
- he can always pick out a perfect one.)
As you can see, we had no plates or bowls and I got creative with
coffee filter containers and a tray that was under the coffee maker.
YAY for indoor picnics!!!
Vacation is over and I finished reading the last Harry Potter book.
Ahh... summer is no more.
