ARCHIVES: JULY 2010
July 21 - Wednesday

Only a month ago, we traveled to my home of Virginia where we experienced abundant heat and barbecue. Neither the barbecue nor the heat were planned.
Out there, barbecue means chopped pork flavored with vinegar. Here, we are looking at some slaw/bbq sandwiches from Doumar's in Norfolk - in operation since 1904. I like to see how different places wrap their sandwiches - this saran wrap fixed with a toothpick is a new one on me. That little stunted one on the right is Adam's hot dog sandwich. A dog sliced up to fit the bun.
Friday, we embark on another familiar adventure..... to San Diego. While our trip to Virginia topped out at 106-ish degrees, I eagerly anticipate the cooling coasterly breezes of not-quite 80 degrees. Ahhhhh... Yes. I can barely remember what that's like. All forms of barbecue will be replaced by mexicue! That's mexican food!
The beach and enchiladas is a fine way to spend any vacation or birthday. Talk to you in August.
July 11 - Sunday

Adam bought me some of those socks with the seperate big toe. Perfect, indeed, for wearing around the house.
July 05 - Monday

I had this blank canvas bag that I have been wanting to decorate and I finally started working on it this weekend. I still have some left to do - but I'm happy with how its going. Quite a bit easier to sew on the canvas than I would have thought. Fun fun.

How was your 4th? We had some friends over, ate hot dogs, tater tots, cole slaw, beans, guacamole - so much good food. I rarely eat hot dogs - I think its a fine and special way to spend the 4th.
July 02 - Saturday

These Bosse Miniatures sold at Canoe Online have caught my attention. They are a reproduction of some miniatures by Walter Bosse, a mid-century austrian designer. More of his work on Flickr: Here and here.
{Lots of neat things on the Canoe site like this aluminum pencil sharpener, wooden blank book, bird bottle opener

But, anyway, speaking of that hedgehog, I need to show you this little hedgehog pin. So so cute!
