+ WOW Everyone, I'm (barely) alive!!! I have been hit with the head flu this week and today I am back, standing on two feet.
How do I know I am alive? Well, because I got up this morning, showered and put my dirty germ sheets in the wash. I always say that cleaning up your own filth is the first step to a full recovery.

+ A couple of weeks ago, I fell victim to the lovely peacock chenille bedspread which I purchase impulsively off Etsy from CatNap Cottage. In fact, my husband (my own personal shopper) saw this on the Etsy home page and emailed it to me and it was love at first sight. The image above is from the seller, and is taken on a full size bed. It actually works just great on my queen. I also love this wedding ring design spread.
It's so inspiring to find things you love that you never knew existed, you know?

+ We're out on the back patio, and Adam is tending to the steak and onions on the grill and I ask him, "so, are we eating at the table or in front of terminator?"
I mean, when its just you and your husband - no kids, pets, family members, its not like you need a special night to get to know each other again.

+ A series of steps, trials and errands have culminated into a beautiful activity -- surfing on our big screen television. We even signed up for Netflix for the occasion and so far we've watched 15 minutes of Grindhouse, 5 minutes of the original Superman and 9 minutes of an old Star Trek movie. The quality of watching movies on your pc on your television is actually pretty good.
Seriously, the best part of all of this, is that we don't have to ever be tempted to fight over the computer again. As we speak, I am on the regular computer and Adam is lounging in the Lazy Boy surfing pool designs on flickr.
+ The work of Catalina Estrada. Check out her work with Paul Smith also.
+ A few weeks ago, my back started hurting and now that it's hurting everyday I decided to take action and pull out the old yoga vhs tape we have from when Adam had a brief spat with back pain, years ago. I guess I could probably set our dvr to record some yoga shows but for now I'm enjoying whatever it is that seems funny about doing yoga in my room from a videotape. It could very well be the last VHS tape that I watch and I believe its worth documenting.

Sleepypie's Reading List
I
have beeen reading steadily for about a year and I want to start
writing down the titles before I forget them, in approximate order. All of these books fall into the 'Harry Potter genre' category - some are young adult and some are adult. Comments are below each book grouping.
Redwall (Redwall, Book 1) by Brian Jacques and Gary Chalk
Mattimeo (Redwall, Book 3) by Brian Jacques and Gary Chalk
--Comments: I've talked about these books before. They are all about animals, mainly mice, living in the forest just minding their own business. Lots of eating and drinking in these books and the storyline usually centers around a skirmish with an evil fox or hedgehog. Good clean fun.
Eragon (Inheritance, Book 1) by Christopher Paolini
Everest (Inheritance, Book 2) by Christopher Paolini
-- Comments: Great books with lots of sword and dragon action.
The Sword of Shannara by Terry Brooks
--Comments: This is definitely a Lord of the Rings kind of book. Lots of traveling over mysterious lands in search of magical artifacts. Terry Brooks has about 30 other books, this being the first, and I may consider reading some of the others at a later date.
Castaways of the Flying Dutchman by Brian Jacques and Ian Schoenherr
--Comments: The guy that writes about talking mice, also writes some people-centered stories later in his career. This one was appealing because I thought it would be about pirates and i love pirates. But, he gets washed ashore and spends the whole book wandering around with his magical talking dog (didn't think you would totally get away from talking animals, did ya?) Actually, I was so disappointed with the lack of pirates that I didn't finish this one.
Voyage of Slaves: A Tale From Castaways of the Flying Dutchman by Brian Jacques and Ian Schoenherr
--Comments: This followup at least takes place at sea. It's among the cheesiest books I've read (in the HP genre) but, I said this was a full list and I couldn't leave it out. I don't recommend any of the 'people' Brian Jacques books, but love the mice ones.
The
Amulet of Samarkand by Jonathan Stroud (The Bartimaeus Trilogy,
Book 1)
The
Golem's Eye by Jonathan Stroud(The Bartimaeus Trilogy, Book 2)
Ptolemy's
Gate by Jonathan Stroud (The Bartimaeus Trilogy, Book 3)
--Comments: The Bartimaeus Books are by far my favorite --- I was so torn while I was reading these... torn between wanting to hurry through them so I could see what was going to happen, and reading them slowly to prolong the ending.
The Golden Compass (His Dark Materials Trilogy) by Phillip Pullman
--Comments: I read the Golden Compass before the movie came out and it always read very mainstream, like I could always picture the movie in my mind. I guess that kinda bugged me cause I haven't bothered to read anymore of the series.
The Book of Three (Prydain Chronicles) by Lloyd Alexander
--Comments: This book is more like Lord of the Rings than Potter with groups of people traveling across lands to accomplish a task. It's alright - can't decide if i'm going to read the sequel, which I already bought.
Septimus Heap, Book One: Magyk by Angie Sage and
Mark Zug
Septimus Heap: Book Two: Flyte by Angie Sage and Mark Zug
--Comments: These books feel a little younger than some of the others and by that I mean it can get a little cheesy - BUT ALL OF THESE BOOKS IN THIS WHOLE LIST ARE CHEESY. Much of Book 1 takes place in a cottage in a bog, which is a nice setting for mud creatures and jungle-y plants and vines. I love all of that kind of imagery.
Artemis
Fowl (Artemis Fowl, Book 1) by Eoin Colfer
The
Arctic Incident (Artemis Fowl, Book 2) by Eoin Colfer
--Comments: Artemis Fowl is a 12 year old criminal. Good stuff. There's lots of creatures and gadgets and technology in this one -- big sci-fi influence. I think that I like that because it turns it more into a suspense/operations/heist kind of storyline. Cops and things. I have only just started the second one.
The end! I hope this list is useful.
