Sunday, 23

....Yesterday and last evening were allergy living hells. Thankfully, I am feeling better today and am back to my usual activities. Tomorrow I leave for Chicago, on business, for the duration of the week. I've never been there before. I've heard its going to be chilly and I can't wait to get up at 4:30am tomorrow to catch that 6am flight. In any case, it will be fun. I have already dug out some gloves and hats and other warm clothing, which i'm sure will be insufficient.

....We cooked up a beefy roast last night. Snail was beside himself with delight and I thought him and that peice of meat might run off to Mexico together. Which would have been fine with me. Me and those mashed potatoes made a great couple.

....You know what the greatest thing is that I don't hear anyone talking about? Its the heating and cooling system in your car. NOT ONLY can you control the air temperature from the comforts of being seated and with only the lift of your arm, BUT ALSO, the change takes effect immediately. Isn't that amazing?!?! I love that. As someone that's typically freezing all the time, its a relief to be able to ride around in my car, in my own little perfectly adjusted air box.

Tuesday, 18

....I guess i should change the name of my blog to "Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday".

...Snail just took pictures of the inside of my cheek and I will not be posting them. Its the second time this oddity has been there. Its dark red and the size of a small black eyed pea. Its kinda hard. I was going to go see the dr about 2 weeks ago when it showed up, but it disappeared about 1 hour after it appeared. I went ahead and took some aspirin.

...I expect tomorrow's allergies to be no different from the past 4/5 days. I will be sneezing and blowing my nose non-stop until at least 11am. Tomorrow, instead of doing that in my cube and hearing various people around me say "god bless you", I will be in a small meeting. From 9am to 12pm. A regular spectacle I will be. Me and my kleenex and my raw rubbed nose. The only thing I can do to help the situation is make sure I get a good breakfast and possibly have a dr. pepper. Yes, aside from the 3 different medications I take daily, and the 3 allergy shots on fridays, all I can do to help myself is be fed and watered. Nothing else helps.

...Ask Snail to tell you the raccoon story. Its funny.

Sunday, 16

....I'm doing some boring things this weekend: chores. I feel certain I will go to bed tonight feeling prepared for the work week. I've also done some painting, which is going well. I have some catching up to do after devoting almost all of last year to wedding stuff. Not that I was busy planning cakes and flowers every weekend, but i think somehow I just didn't feel like doing anything artsy. Glad that's all out of the way now.

...I had a makeover yesterday at Nords at the Bobbie Brown counter. It was a face fair with about 20 women all getting fixed up at the same time. The lighting was terrible. The girl was nice enough, but clearly would have rather been doing something else. When I came home, Snail and I had a good laugh and I washed it off. It wasn't super terrible, but way too crazy for 11am in the morning. And even if I had had plans that night, i don't think I could have kept it on. I felt like wet paint. But, its fun to do those once in a while.

....Saw Sideways. Thumbs up.

...Snail thinks i'm a coffee drinker now. Now that I have 8 cups of coffee under my belt in the span of about 3 months. Did you read his post about the Jack Daniels coffee? Yep. He comes in all sweet-like, "I made you some coffee" this morning. I taste it and it tastes funky. I can't beleive he tried to pass that off on me like I wouldn't notice. And then tonight, he starts going on about how I better grind some beans or else tomorrow I'm going to have to drink the 2nd flavored coffee pack, whatever that one is. HE'S the one that needs to wake up and smell the coffee.

...I finally bought a new makeup/blush brush to replace the one that I dropped in the toilet last week. Hurray for me!

Tuesday, 11

....Things are woefully uneventful this evening, compared to two straight nights watching opening episodes of 24. I've never watched this show before but now i'm hooked. I mean, as hooked as I ever am on any tv show. Cause on the one hand, it was exciting and intense and on the other hand, i just don't need that kind of stress when i'm trying to relax.

Sunday, 09

....Friday night, after mexican food with friends, we had an impromptu movie night. It was just like old times made of bad movies, good laughs and hot tamales. We watched THE HOWLING -- which i thought might be a little scary, but turns out that its terrible.

....Last night, we gathered around to watch the Chargers. There was hot wings, potato chips, carrots and ranch, dr. Pepper -- A recipe for delicious.

....Today, we drove up to the new art store that Snail found. I could hardly believe my eyes. The place is REAL. A real art store where you buy art supplies to make art with. Who do I need to thank for this?

Thursday, 06

...We are half-way finished reading the Fellowship of the Ring. The book and the movie are very similar and yet different. Soon, we will watch the Return of the King on DVD. I can't wait. I kinda hope that one day, we do a LOTR all day marathon, but i haven't brought this idea up to Snail. I would love to see the whole story, all together.

...Snail made Poke for dinner tonight. Remember Poke that we had in Hawaii? (raw tuna, sesame oil, seaweed, asian pear [snail's addition] It was delicious and not unlike something I might find on the menu at my favorite sushi restaurant, UCHI.

..It was cold like winter today. My hands were frozen from freezing all day. I drove home with a glove on my left hand. Its a fuzzy glove and I have to have at least one hand that isn't fuzzy for any allergy/nose adjustments. I should probably get some leather ones. I don't think leather attracts hairs and fuzz.

...Snail and his mom made a trip to the dump the other day. They got rid of bags of christmas trash and other trashy items. Is there anything better than the ability to throw ANYTHING away? I can remember making trips to the dump with my dad. It was a long drive out and it seemed to me to be the place where all material goods come to an end. I mean, doesn't most everything end up at the dump eventually? I guess not if you have a bunch of nice things -- like priceless antique furniture made of real wood instead of dressers made of IKEA. But, i can look around this room and pretty much imagine all of it being at the dump, one day down the road. I don't have the same sense of relief when I give things to goodwill. To me, everything at goodwill carries the burden of being unwanted and sitting on a shelf with other unwanted items. Which is why I'm not much for thrift shopping. I mean, there are certainly some lovely things that people get rid of, but in order to find those, you have to sort throw the super unwanted items. The dump is similar in the theme of the unwanted, but the dump is like the final destination -- the heaven for things. And goodwill is more like yet another stop on the way to the very final resting place.

OK---- that got really deep. Good night.

...I highly recommend drawer organizers/compartments. Go get some today. You know you need some.
My jewelry drawers were making me nuts. I couldn't find an earring from a bracelet from a barrette from my elbow. I finally took some measurements, marched up to the container store and now my whole world is better. And even more better after I go there again tomorrow for another set of compartments.

Sunday, 01

...We spent a rockin New Years with some friends over dinner and munchies. We left the party at 11:30 and got to our couch at 11:57, just in time to turn on the tv and kiss at midnight.

I tasted a new salsa/dip thing at the party that I enjoyed. Chimichurri.

1/2 cup olive oil
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1/3 cup minced fresh parsley
1 clove garlic
2 minced shallots
1 teaspoon minced basil, thyme or oregano, or mixture
Salt and pepper to taste

Very tart and delicious.
